Cheri Hart

A distinguished educator, Cheri Hart possesses over two decades of experience in teaching and public school administration. In addition to her time in the classroom, Cheri Hart has dedicated 16 years to her role as Principal, a title she currently holds with Cotulla Independent School District (ISD) in south Texas. Highly qualified in the field of elementary and secondary education, Cheri Hart has acquired a number of professional credentials and licenses. In 1992, after gaining experience as a teacher, passing appropriate certification examinations, and completing an approved prerequisite course for principals, Cheri Hart received her lifetime Mid-Management Certificate for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade from the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV). Four years later, Cheri Hart fulfilled all requirements for the Stephen F. Austin State University Superintendent Certificate Program, which included the completion of 15 semester hours in courses such as Leadership and District Culture, Curriculum Planning and Development, Governance, and Communications and Community Relations. Additionally, Cheri Hart earned certificates in Provisional Elementary Education, English as a Second Language, and Provisional Elementary History. Cheri Hart now utilizes her educational credentials at Ramirez Burks Elementary School in Cotulla, where she leads a student body of 550 while handling all aspects of staff development, employee evaluations, and curriculum development and implementation. Under Principal Hart’s direction, Ramirez Burks Elementary recently formed a student council program, gained an additional computer lab, and secured the donation of its first school marquee. Prior to joining Cotulla ISD, Cheri Hart worked in a number of positions in the public education system. As Principal of Hector P. Garcia Elementary in Temple, Texas, Cheri Hart assisted in the development of several policies for all of Temple ISD. Furthermore, she and two other educators promoted the district-wide implementation of a Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) plan, which won the school board’s approval after a unanimous vote. From 1996 to 2004, Cheri Hart aided in the success of Cuero ISD, helping Hunt Elementary School achieve the highest TAKS scores in the district. Formerly a campus with a large number of parent, teacher, and community complaints, Hunt Elementary School saw a positive turnaround during her tenure as Principal.
