Christ Church Kirkland

Christ Church Kirkland in Washington has provided individuals with a deeper knowledge of Christ for nearly four decades. Starting out as a small, home-based gathering led by Pastor Norm Willis, the church has grown to include many ministries and outreach opportunities. Today, individuals involved in the church can participate in an academy, an accredited school of fine arts, a missionary program, and medical missions to a sister church in Kenya. At Christ Church Kirkland, spiritual growth, education, and service to others are intrinsically linked. In 2012, the Christ Church Academy of Christ Church Kirkland will celebrate its 20th year of operation. The academy began as a simple co-op arrangement where parents offered their knowledge and skills for the good of the community. Currently, it provides a Christ-centered education while following a classical curriculum. The school informs students who are ready to change the culture with their passion for learning, ability to discern, and biblical view of the world. Young adults ages 18 to 25 can choose to spend a year in the Christ Church Kirkland Master’s Commission. Youth focus on their relationship with God and live in an atmosphere of accountability, self-discipline, and spiritual authority. Commission members live with host families from the church and related communities around the United States. Under the guidance of their hosts, the young adults participate in leadership training and focus on forming a deeper relationship with God. Christ Church Kirkland also runs the nation’s first School of the Prophetic Arts. The fine arts academy encourages students to use their talents to create God’s kingdom on Earth. The program offers classes in dance, studio arts, music, and creative writing. The church’s School of the Prophetic Arts offers a state-accredited Associate degree in Prophetic Arts. The church’s outreach efforts are not limited to education and formation. Christ Church Kirkland offers regular medical missions to its sister church, Christ Church Kisumu in Kenya. A partnership with Seattle Pacific University allows premedical and pre-nursing students to travel to the village of Kisumu and assist with medical procedures and a baby rescue program. Participants embrace the opportunity to improve their clinical skills while helping people in need. The church aims to continue to offer members these and other outreach opportunities.
