Entrepreneur Christina DeGiovanni founded and currently edits The Emerald Magazine, a quarterly publication devoted to lifestyle issues related to North Coast living. Established in early 2012 and based in Arcata, California, the magazine includes content about local Humboldt County affairs, business, and culture. In her capacity as Editor, Christina DeGiovanni builds up the magazine's web presence, writes stories, sells advertising, and maintains a distribution network that includes more than 40 locations.

Prior to founding her own business, Christina DeGiovanni graduated in 2012 from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism as well as a minor in Education. While at Humboldt State, she served as Intern for KEET-TV, a Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) station operating out of Eureka, California, and KHSU, a National Public Radio (NPR) station in Arcata. Her combined duties included interviewing an important official, participating in the pledge drive, filming live shows, operating cameras, directing, and maintaining the servers.

In addition to her broadcast media experience, Christina DeGiovanni worked as tutor to a variety of clients. She helped students at the Arcata Elementary School sharpen their math and reading skills, worked as an English as a Second Language Tutor for Zane Middle School, and supported the Language Arts curriculum at the Jacoby Creek School in her capacity as Literacy Tutor.

Pursuant to her interest in politics and journalism, DeGiovanni plans to continue her education as a graduate student in political science at Tel Aviv University, which recently accepted her.
