Christine Olano

Tallahassee, FL

I was born and raised in Miami, FL. Currently, I live in Tallahassee with my boyfriend and my dog. We're in Tallahassee because I went to Florida State University for my Bachelors in Information Technology (and minor in Art History, thank you very much) and then immediately followed that degree with a Masters of Library and Information Studies from the same institution.

I decided to study all of these things because a) I have always loved libraries and museums and would therefore like to work in one, b) I am ok with technology which would be helpful in any information career, and c) most people who know me would agree that my being a librarian, archivist, or curator makes perfect sense with my personality. (Exception being my mother, who thought I would be the next Romper Room lady. Don't get that reference? See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDvdSGkN0aU )

Now I'm most interested in special collections and archives, but I haven't lost my original interests in public librarianship, youth services, museums, social media, and collection development.

When I'm not reading things that will help keep me up-to-date on library- related things and techy things, I read about nutrition, fitness, health, psychology, politics, human rights (most often womens rights), environmentalism, animal rights, various cultures, languages, religions, travel, movies, and television. I also read a great deal about food and cooking.

Re-reading this bio, I am also clearly a fan of words, parentheses, and the Oxford comma.
