Hello — I’m Chris Kerry, an academic leader, researcher, and educator with a passion for innovation, entrepreneurship, and helping students and organisations realise their potential. I currently serve as Deputy Head of School for Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Tourism at Anglia Ruskin University, where I work at the intersection of teaching excellence, research strategy, and collaborative innovation.

Much of my work focuses on how universities can empower people, places, and businesses to thrive. Over the past decade I’ve led major programme developments, helped shape institutional strategies, and supported colleagues and students to experiment, create, and challenge assumptions. I have a particular interest in active and authentic learning, believing that students learn best when they’re solving real problems with real impact.

My research spans open innovation, Triple Helix collaborations, entrepreneurship ecosystems, and emerging technologies such as the metaverse and digital innovation in hospitality. I enjoy working on funded projects with civic partners, regional councils, and international collaborators, especially those that strengthen communities or develop entrepreneurial capacity.

Beyond the academic world, I’m driven by a broad curiosity. I enjoy exploring developments in technology and digital culture, staying active in sport, and keeping up with global events through a wide range of journals, blogs, and news sources. Whether mentoring student entrepreneurs or consulting with organisations, I aim to help people bring bold ideas to life and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

If you’re interested in entrepreneurship development, innovation strategy, or collaborative research, I’d love to connect.
