Christopher Preston

As a software designer and developer, inventor, and consultant, Chris Preston co-invented two U.S. Patents for methods of electronic message distribution and formatting of computing and electronic data interchange (EDI) systems. As a student at the United States Military Academy at West Point, Chris Preston earned his Bachelor's in Computer Science with a Minor in Electrical Engineering. During a five-year tour of duty from 1984 to 1989, he put his computer skills to work for the U.S. military: he first served as a platoon leader and executive officer in planning and management in Ft. Hood, Texas, and Kirch-Goens, Germany. Chris Preston later became an Information Management Officer with the rank of Captain at Giessen Military Communications in Giessen, Germany. There, Chris Preston assembled and launched a transition control protocol/Internet protocol (TCP/IP) network for various Department of Defense agencies, as well as an Ethernet and fiber-optic network. He also drew up a five-year information systems plan for the Giessen facility. After completing his military service, Chris Preston joined InterComputer Communications Corporation in Kenwood, Ohio, as an OS-1100 and Unix Administrator and Software Developer. There, Chris Preston oversaw the operation of a variety of Unix servers, including Sequent Symmetry, CTOS with Unix, AIX, AT&T; 3B2, and Motorola 68000, as well as a Sperry 2200/400 OS-1100 mainframe computer. He then accepted a position as a Network Systems Architect for the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority, part of the Grady Health System in Atlanta, Georgia. Chris Preston designed and launched a connected computer system between all the PCs, printers, and terminals in the 14 buildings of the hospital authority’s campus and more than a dozen remote clinics. Chris Preston held subsequent executive IT positions with New Era of Networks, Inc., iMercury LLC, Diogenes Inc., InterAppWare LLC, Envoy Technologies, and has consulted at National Data Corp., Deluxe Inc., Thomson Reuters, and Recondo Technology. Chris Preston currently holds the titles of President and Chief Scientist for SepWare Inc., and Managing Partner at InterAppWare LLC. Chris Preston also consults for ABR Holdings Limited, tasked with enhancing its point-of-sale system, adding Ceridian Web services and refactoring the U.S.-based food and beverage company's various software components.
