Teacher of Technology Applied to Education, Biology and Mathematics Claudia de Almeida Pires is, in her own words, “Educator for vocation and Teacher for predestination”. She is a daughter of a mother teacher and perhaps in a trick of destination, she was born in the Teacher’s Day – October 15th.) She always studied in a public school and by the age of 16 her life took decisive tracks towards to her current formation. “Entered the College to course Graduation in Science with Habilitation in Mathematics.” In 1995, still having classes at the College, the Educator acquired her first Computer, then a rare gadget in the inner of Pernambuco. It was from that moment on that began the well-succeeded union between Education and Technology. “While computers were arriving to many points of the city I was invited to act as a Teacher of basic Info in a medical clinic and also in the Regional Hospital of the city. I go on in that triple journey until the end of the Math Graduation Course.” But the opportunity to ally the Informatics to the Education came only after several years working as a Teacher. In 2005, the pernambucana taught in the same school where had studied, the Colegio Normal Estadual and as “a good son comes back home”, Claudia was laureate with the subject called “Informatics applied to the Education”, in the Normal Medio Course (High School). “Parallel to this, I began the Post-Graduation and Mastering Courses where I decided to focus the pedagogic work helped for the Technologies of Information and Communication in both researches. Through the investments in studies and a lot of dedication, the Teacher of Informatics designed the project “Escola.com CIÊNCIA”. The purpose of the work was to utilize the familiarity that the young people have with the Technology, by practical activities in their formation as teachers. “The Project is innovative for permiting that young future teachers, in a formation still in High School level, can experience, with a critic posture, activities supported for different technologic resources, observing the possibilities and obstacles in the use of these tools”. And it was with this iniciative that the Educator of Pernambuco was a finalist runner in the second edition of the Microsoft Innovators Teacher Prize, in 2007 and was the winner in 2008. “And the purpose was really that: to teach learning and to learn teaching!” Text adapted from report carried out by Paola Peres de Oliveira.
