Christopher Coutu

State Representative, Active Military, Small Businessman, Family Man, and Veterans Affairs advocate – Chris Coutu wants to represent the 2nd District to bring common sense and fiscal responsibility back to Washington. Chris lives in Norwich with his wife Neringa and their 8 month old daughter. In 2007, Chris’ petition drive to lower taxes propelled him to the City Council. In 2008, Chris defeated a 14 year incumbent to represent the 47th legislative district in the General Assembly, where he serves on the Insurance, Commerce, and Veterans committees among others. Chris’ military career began with his Air Force enlistment in 1995. On September 11th, 2001, he was deployed to Kuwait for Operation Southern Watch. Today, Chris is a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. In 2006 founded AmericanWarrior, which has sent 630 World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. He has been recognized by the Air Force with the Outstanding Volunteer and Humanitarian medals, and received the Connecticut American Legion’s highest honor, the Americanism Award. Chris has worked in his family businesses of trucking, fishing, and tool & die manufacturing. He knows, first hand, the impact government regulation can have on businesses in Connecticut.
