CPU Passmark
The website CPU passmark is all about testing the performance of a processor. Benchmark the speed of your PC computer hardware, then compare the result to other machines. Includes disk, 3D and CPU tests. Benchmarks are particularly important in CPU design, giving processor architects the ability to measure and make tradeoffs in microarchitectural decisions. We calculate effective speed which measures performance under typical consumer load. wPrime is a leading multithreaded benchmark for x86 processors that tests your processor performance by calculating square roots with a recursive call. CPU-Z is a freeware that gathers information on some of the main devices of your system.
Intel processor is a better solution than the AMD processor. As the clock speed of the processor increases, so does the power consumption, and of course heat. With the nano technology barrier broken in the Intel processors, the heat is less of a problem. The new challenge in increasing speed lies in the materials the processor is made of: copper, silver, aluminum, and gold. To get the electrons flowing faster than they are now, there has to be an innovation in the actual manufacturing of the processor. I believe Intel will make that breakthrough.
