Craig Amshel

A national speaker and author of numerous surgery-related articles, Los Angeles native Dr. Craig Amshel has treated countless individuals with a vast array of colorectal syndromes. Among Dr. Craig Amshel’s many accolades as a medical professional is his Patients’ Choice Award, an honor given to doctors who have received outstanding ratings from their patients. Aside from his success in the surgical field, Dr. Craig Amshel has written about his college experiences at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he pledged Tau Kappa Epsilon in the fall of 1986. In his humorous book, Fall ’86, Dr. Amshel recalls campus life, academic struggles, and military involvement as a freshman in Southern California. A Reserve Training Officers’ Corps (ROTC) scholarship recipient, Dr. Craig Amshel completed the Basic Airborne Course, fundamental paratrooper training for the United States Armed Forces, at the United States Army Airborne School. Major Amshel later served as a General Surgeon and GI specialist in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri while supporting Operation Freedom during the Iraq war. After completing his tour of duty with excellent service ratings, Dr. Craig Amshel received an honorable discharge and returned home. Today, Dr. Craig Amshel focuses on helping individuals with colorectal-related conditions. Specializing in a wide range of surgical procedures, Dr. Craig Amshel treats patients from his clinic, Absolute Surgical Specialists, PLLC, in addition to two other Florida medical locations. A devoted husband and father of two, Dr. Craig Amshel maintains a healthy lifestyle through a number of recreational activities, including golf, tennis, and volleyball, as well as surfing, skiing, cycling, running, weight lifting, and karate. An avid reader, Dr. Craig Amshel lists Charles Bukowski, David Halberstam, and Stephen King among his favorite authors.
