Craig attended Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education. Following an eight-year career serving in ministry to local West Texas churches, Craig enrolled as a law student at Texas Tech University School of Law in Lubbock.

While attending law school, Craig interned for the Honorable James Wesley Hendrix, District Judge for the Northern District of Texas. Additionally, Craig was selected to participate in the nationally recognized Texas Tech Law School advocacy program as a moot court oral advocate. Further, in his second year, Craig won the Texas Tech School of Law advanced moot court championship and took home the top overall oralist award. In addition to advocacy, Craig was a member of the Estate Planning and Community Property Law Journal serving as an articles editor during his third year.
