Helping people. That has always been my goal, and it started while interning at the Attorney General’s Office in Nassau County, New York, in their Consumer Frauds Bureau where I was the only intern responsible for resolving consumer complaints. While there, I closed more cases than any other previous intern.

After attending law school at New England Law – Boston, I began my career at the Queens County District Attorney’s Office, where I spent over a year in the Domestic Violence division, advocating on behalf of abused women and children.

After two years at the DA’s Office, I joined a franchised company, as a Vice President and Chief Counsel, and began to work with small business owners, helping them with things such as negotiating leases, resolving employment disputes, and increasing sales . After five years, I became the COO of the company, responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the franchisor. I built the company from 50 locations to just under 100 in five states.

After the company was sold, I was faced with the decision of what to do next. After negotiating with my own health insurance company for medications and treatments my family needed, I had the serendipitous experience of surprising my doctors with my success getting prescriptions usually denied by insurance companies covered. This surprising success led my doctors to encourage me help other patients advocate for themselves and that is how I began working as a patient advocate. Working to reduce the stress of patients--whose greatest concern should be getting and staying healthy--feels like a return to my career roots as a consumer advocate at the Attorney General’s office and as an Assistant District Attorney, advocating for domestic violence victims at the Queens County DA’s office. Advocacy work is what I am naturally good at and what I love.

An admitted New York Islanders fan and Lego-maniac, I am on the constant search to “boldly go where no-one has gone before”.
