A few years ago, I was really struck by something that British Statesman and literary figure, Benjamin Disraeli, once said:

“We are not creatures of circumstance; we are creators of circumstance.”

How true. We are the creators of our own situations and forward movements. We make the decisions that determine what happens in our lives. And when difficulties cross our path, we are the ones who decide how to traverse those pitfalls. Our attitudes affect our actions. Our actions affect the outcomes. The outcomes affect all those around us.

My goal in life is to fully embody this feeling–and to live my life not as a victim of, but rather as, a creator of circumstance.
