Christopher B. Walls, DNP, APRN, NP-C was born and raised in Woodbury, Tennessee, and relocated to Chattanooga in 2000. He has been in active practice within the Chattanooga area for the last four years. Since accepting a position with Comprehensive Medical Care, P.C. in December 2011, he has worked as a primary care provider within the company's Pediatric, Family, and Internal Medicine offices. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, he is highly educated to provide primary care to patients across the lifespan. Dr. Walls provides expert health services by offering a distinct, holistic approach to health care that considers the whole patient and all of his or her needs: physical, psychological, social, economic, and others. In this multifaceted role, he evaluates patients, make diagnoses, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, writes prescriptions and manages health conditions. He is licensed as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse and qualified to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Tennessee, with board certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program. Additionally, he has a certificate of fitness to prescribe in Tennessee and a controlled substance registration certificate issued by the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration. Dr. Walls completed an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing at Chattanooga State in 2006. As a Registered Nurse, he primarily worked within the Erlanger Health System providing direct patient care in the Intermediate-, Medical-, and Shock Trauma Intensive Care Units until 2008. Dr. Walls completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at East Tennessee State University in 2009. He attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he completed a Master's of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration in 2011, and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in 2013. Dr. Walls was in the second cohort of students to complete the DNP program, and was nominated for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's Excellence in Advancing Nursing Practice Award for Outstanding Dissertation and Capstone Project in 2014. After an extensive review of the literature on outcomes for domestic violence intervention programs, he decided to focus his Translational Capstone Project on a multidisciplinary approach to screening for teen dating violence and the implementation of evidence based practice interventions.
