Founder, The Orchid Initiative and Public Health Advocate in the United States
Damaris is a cardiovascular public health advocate through her academic career and perspective of societal healthcare issues. The pressing issue of cardiovascular disease, attracted her to the versatile and developing field of public health; more specifically epidemiology.
She received the rare opportunity to begin research in high school, studying zebrafish embryonic development, igniting in her a fire to understand the complexities of the world around her. Envisioning the world around her as a biomedical haven; she understood the importance of leucine, a branched chain amino acid as a means of a supplement to prevent osteoporosis in humans as they age.
