Danise Wallace

Author's Biography

Danise Wallace served as a reserve deputy and police officer in Texas, from 1983 to 1996. During this period, while writing police reports for criminal cases, she began to feel compelled to tell the story of the suspicious circumstances of her father’s disappearance and death and the blatant lack of interest shown by authorities.

Months after her father Danny went missing from a barge on Galveston Bay a body was found on the shore of Matamoros, Mexico. There was never a definite identification of the body, or a ruling on cause of death in conflicting autopsies. The skull of the body was damaged in a way that seemed to strongly indicate foul play. An acquaintance finally confessed his guilt in the killing to a family member. Danise began to discover a dark and complicated web of intrigue that could explain the resistance of investigators to pursuing the case. She resolved to acquire as much documentation as she could and tried everything in her power to force the authorities to take action, to write an investigative report, to perform the duties of their office, to no avail.

Danise moved to Colorado in 2001 and worked for seven years as a property and evidence technician. Decades of anguish over being unsure that her father's body had actually been found, or being able to bring the killer to justice, and the lack of attention or legitimacy given to his case has inspired Danise to write this true story; not only for herself, but for those seeking answers regarding the missing and the deceased.

Danise retired from law enforcement and has made her home in Colorado with her husband and family, and bloodhounds that she trains to search for missing persons.
