Technology Executive in Denver, CO

David Pass is a tenured technology executive in the financial services space with remarkable skill in transforming stalled environments, scaling technology landscapes through rapid growth, and building cultures that hold space for innovation and creative solution development. The hallmark of his success is his ability to lead through change, innovation, and action while consistently providing strategic direction and amplifying the value of his team to the overall business and forward objectives.

David leads organizations through growth phases and change by surfacing gaps in technical processes, introducing leading-edge products and infrastructures, and partnering with internal stakeholders at all levels to understand the core needs of the user. He leverages an excellent grasp on both the technical and business sides of organizations to build 5+-year strategic plans that deliver sustainable and scalable environments.

Already established as an IT executive in the financial services space, David joined CoBiz Financial in 2002 as an CIO and EVP. He was charged with optimizing IT performance and modernizing the IT landscape as the business grew from $500M to $4B in assets.

He recognized the need for an information security program in response to GLBA requirements. After building the program from the ground up, he was recognized as the first CISO and eventually expanded oversight to include ransomware and cyber resiliency. Additionally, he led as the chair of the Strategic Initiatives, IT Planning, and Security Incident Response committees.

In 2019, David was brought into UMB Bank to drive the technology function where he has been modernizing and transforming to create an agile environment capable of seamlessly scaling and shifting with market, economic, and customer changes.

In only a few years, David had built up and introduced modernization plans and strategies to upgrade existing digital channels, increase automation of manual procedures, and replace lagging systems impeding organizational growth. He partnered with the full executive teams to gain a deeper understanding of product and business functions to surface gaps in current technologies.

Committed to advancing his connection to the community as well as his organizations, he served as a board member for the Young Americans Bank.
