Looking toward the distant future: Startide Rising considers a future where humans raise animals to sentient levels to join a galactic civilization. My non-fiction work, The Transparent Society weighs the difficult issues we face, balancing privacy and secrecy in an increasingly technological world. I've appeared on television shows such as Life After People and The Universe, discussing topics ranging from surveillance and nanotechnology to astrophysics.
