David Taus

San Francisco, CA

Most recently, I was the co-founder and Program Director of Tutorpedia Foundation, where I spent most of my time making low-income students' education more personal, and placing personalized learning on the map as a viable and invaluable education reform option. Prior to this, I was a public high school science teacher.

In my fleeting spare time, I play guitar in various rock bands and am working on finishing a book about Evolutionary Psychology titled The Fishbowl Principle. I also have the tendency to disappear into incredibly remote sections of the Sierra Nevadas and Canyon Country for days at a time with a backpack, or better yet, an Alpacka Raft.

I grew up in Milwaukee, WI. After graduating from Brown University in 2001 with a degree in psychology, I moved to Boston, MA where I earned a Masters degree in Education and teaching credential at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education in 2004, and taught high school biology and psychology in the Boston Public Schools. I also created, produced, and hosted my own weekly radio show, which ran regularly for three years.

I moved to San Francisco in 2006 and immediately through-hiked the High Sierra and John Muir Trails. Then I spent a season as a Naturalist in the Marin Headlands, and taught science at a charter high school.

Other interests include Taoism, bicycles, potluck dinners, cultural evolution, ice cream, summer camp, live music, homebrewing, river travel, frisbees, popcorn, custom guitar gear, needing less, doing everything.
