David W. Stewart, PhD

For the past several decades, Dr. David W. Stewart has made numerous academic contributions to the field of marketing. Dr. Stewart has published hundreds of articles concerning marketing, and he has authored or co-authored 8 books and publications. Some of the books written or co-written by David W. Stewart are Consumer Behavior and the Practice of Marketing, Secondary Research: Information Sources and Methods, and Attention, Attitude, and Affect in Response Advertising. In the past, Dr. David W. Stewart has served as an Editor at the Journal of Marketing and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. Dr. Stewart has also been involved with numerous academic organizations, both in leadership roles and as a member. He has held numerous leadership roles in the American Marketing Association, the Academy of Marketing Science, and the Society for Consumer Psychology, and he is a past Chairman of the United States Census Bureau’s Advisory Committee of Professional Associations. In light of his significant academic contributions to the field of marketing, Dr. David W. Stewart has received numerous awards. Dr. Stewart has been recognized for his lifetime contributions to marketing from the Society for Marketing Advances and the Academy of Marketing Science. In 2005, his alma mater, Baylor University, awarded him Omicron Delta Kappa Man of Merit Award. In 1996, he was a member of the four-person team that won the United States Distance Learning Association’s award for Best Continuing Education Distance Learning Program. In honor of his academic work on marketing strategies, the American Academy of Advertising presented him with its Award for Outstanding Contribution to Advertising Research. Dr. David W. Stewart has also been a professor for three decades. He taught in the business schools at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, and the University of California at Riverside. He is currently President's Professor of Marketing and Law at Loyola Marymount University. He has held numerous administrative positions at such institutions as Vanderbilt, University of Southern California and most recently as Dean of the School of Business Administration at the University of California, Riverside.
