Deanna Alexich

At the core of my teaching practice is my passion to teach underserved student populations to use writing as a transformative tool. I teach beyond the book, using curriculum that focuses on subjects that are relevant and empower the voices of individual students. I continue to teach as I continue to learn and from that new and exciting doors begin to open. The BOLD (Becoming Our Life Dreams) program offers support and hands on experience to middle through high school age girls through community service opportunites, academic and career exploration. For me, the opportunity to build and sustain global relationships to improve the quality of education is a lifelong goal. Technology is a valuable resource to make this dream a reality. What brings me joy? My family, finishing a project, laughing with friends and my chocolate lab Olive--even when she eats my pair of prescription glasses.
