Debby Speelziek

Debby Speelziek is a successful Canadian homebuilder who has been working in the real estate and home construction business for more than twenty years. Strongly influenced by her father, Jack Speelziek, who is also a successful homebuilder, and with siblings who all ventured into the home construction business, Ms. Speelziek made her start in the real estate industry shortly after graduating from Brantford Collegiate and Vocational School.

From 1986 to 1997, Ms. Speelziek sold real estate in the Brantford area for Re/Max People Realty. She excelled at the work and in 1994, Ms. Speelziek’s dedication and hard work earned her a Sales Achievement Award, given to her by the Canadian Home Builder’s Association.

At the same time, Ms. Speelziek made inroads in the home building business in the Brantford area. From 1986 to 1999, she helped complete five phases of subdivisions in the Myrtleville Heights community of Brantford. The next year, in 2000, Ms. Speelziek graduated to becoming a full-time builder, and that same year, became President of Annspel Holdings Ltd., a development and residential construction company.

With these accomplishments, Ms. Speelziek moved on to the next goal in her career, which was completing the residential construction project of Sunnyside Estates and Stoneyridge Estates in St. George, Ontario. This was a thirteen-year-long development project, which was completed in 2013.

With her extensive experience and knowledge in the Canadian home construction industry, Ms. Speelziek has over the years been a dependable source for guidance and leadership for Canadian home building associations. Since 1987, Ms. Speelziek has been a member of the Brantford Home Builder Association (BHBA). And from 2008 to 2011, Ms. Speelziek was part of the BHBA Liaison Committee with the City of Brantford.

In addition, not only was Ms. Speelziek on the Board of Directors for BHBA, but also served as 2nd Vice President of the association in 2002, as well as 1st Vice President in 2003. Finally, in 2004, Ms. Speelziek was chosen as President of the Brantford Home Builder's Association, an election that made her the first female president of the organization ever.

With her devotion and service to the Brantford home construction business community, Ms. Speelziek has enjoyed receiving a number of accolades over the years, including being elected BHBA Member of the Year for Outstanding Achievemen
