She runs a vaccination and wellness clinic in Marion, Iowa, where she works to provide high-quality care for animals at affordable prices. Deborah Y. Strauss is also one of the only veterinarians in all of Iowa who treats animals with chemotherapy, specializing in feline and canine lymphosarcoma with a 75% success rate.

Deborah Y. Strauss D.V.M. always had a unique bond with animals growing up, and dreamt about becoming a future veterinarian from an early age. She was surrounded by pet dogs and cats growing up, and was given her first horse when she was just eleven. Deborah Y. Strauss later went to school at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, where she received a dual degree in Biology and Art. She later attended Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Ames, Iowa, where she studied to become a veterinarian.

Over the years, Deborah Y. Strauss D.V.M. has served as a living testimony that passion, dedication and hard work are the three vital forces for creating the foundation for success. She treats both dogs and cats with cancer, practices equine ophthalmology and equine recurrent uveitis, and works with other animals, such as rodents and goats. Deborah Y. Strauss also specializes in euthanization house calls, allowing pets the chance to die peacefully in their own homes and surrounded by their loved ones.

When she is not working as a veterinarian, Deborah Y. Strauss loves to make beautiful works of art. She mostly uses charcoal and watercolors, but also practices photography at times. Deborah’s passion for art began at the early age of five, at the same time as her passion for animals, and she has been drawing and painting ever since. Two of her favorite artists are Claude Monet and George Ennis, who she admires for their expertise and beauty through the use of watercolors.

Deborah Y. Strauss D.V.M. continues to dedicate her time to her passions for both animals and art to this day. She is able to simultaneously work as a skilled artist and an experienced veterinarian in Iowa, where she exemplifies the joy of life that comes from loving what you do.
