Deirdre Dawson

Auckland, New Zealand.

Kia ora, I’m Deirdre lover of small business, especially ones that seem far too difficult to actually get off the ground. Currently learning about the shared economy - it's about access over ownership.

In the past I’ve done a whole heap of stuff like running Disruptiv - a graffiti art business, which grew into Disrupt Gallery, Disrupt Music and Disrupt Magazine, which was distributed around the world and at one stage the biggest selling foreign graffiti magazine in the US. Disruptiv also produced an array of events ranging from slick corporate to community. I was also the proud Secretary of the K Rd Business Association for a couple of years.

I’ve also dabbled in the accommodation & tourism industries, music distribution & promotion, tech start ups, teaching English in Japan, even a brief stint in ventilation. Prior to beginning work on Rentaholic in October 2012 I handled all hospitality sales & marketing for luxury ice cream brand Kohu Road for two years. I like variety and believe that life rewards risk.
