Hello and welcome to my page! My name is Derek Williams and I'm a 2011 Duke graduate. I have a B.A. in Sociology, but my "real" interest lies in marketing. I'm particularly interested in marketing strategy and branding. I think it's amazing how one can develop a brand from nothing into something that millions of people adore and actually become really loyal to. I also think it's fascinating how communication plays such a key role in marketing. I hope to study these things further one day in business school, paving the way for me to start a career as a marketing manager.

Outside of marketing, I'm also really interested in entrepreneurship. I have dreams of owning my own small business one day. I'm not exactly sure what it'll be just yet (I've had too many ideas to count). However, I'd love to have an online clothing retail site that makes the shopping experience so seamless and personal that it could potentially replace shopping in the mall as the preferred method of shopping. Big dreams, I know, but I think it can be done.

When I'm not reading about new technologies, marketing strategies, or entrepreneurs who are changing this world, I enjoy playing basketball, writing poetry, playing spades, and just hanging out with friends.
