My historical novel, THE ABOLITIONIST'S DAUGHTER, is scheduled for release from John Scognamiglio at Kensington Publishers in the Spring of 2019. Set in 1861 Mississippi, the novel is based on actual history. In an incident of extreme violence, a family and a town are torn apart. As a microcosm of the larger conflict of The Civil War, what leads to such violence and in its aftermath, how do those who survive deal with life and trauma?

I have studied writing at Yale Writers, Duke Writers, Abroad Writers, and others under such notables as Darnell Arnault, Madeleine L'Engle, Jane Smiley, Ethel Rohan, Louis Bayard, Marian Thurm, and Jacquelyn Mitchard.

Persistence, patience, and experience--these three qualities have brought me through untold aspects of passionate interest and investment in life. There are no short-cuts.

The world intrigues me. I have lived in France and spent extensve time in India. There is no continent I have not visited at least once, but my wish list is still a long one. People intrigue me.

I am a writer, a professional artist, art therapist, retreat leader, teacher and minister. For a number of years, I was director of an Atlanta gallery. My work is in prestigious private, institutional, and corporate collections, both regionally and internationally. I am presently represented at The Carolina Gallery of Fine Art in Highlands, NC.

As a sort of "perpetual student" I hold an M.A., an M.F.A., and a D.Min. Though my "serial" career may seem diverse, there are threads that bind these interests together--primarily the spiritual nature of human creativity in all its many forms.
