DJ John Berry

John Berry is a fixture in electronic music having propelled listeners beyond the aural horizon by daftly weaving original productions, remixes & dance floor filled mix sessions that blur the boundaries between artist, producer & DJ.

Mastering a wide realm of electronic music ranging from early eighty's New Wave, Industrial, Techno, Deep House, Progressive & Electro House, Nu-Disco & Breaks... John has found the path of least resistance to create a cohesive groove that is now his secret weapon in all his productions. The way he seemingly crafts melodies, momentum & song structure, will taunt, tease, as well as seduce a dance floor into nothing other than a spiritual exercise in musical existentialism.

Born and raised in Houston Texas, John was exposed to music at an early age witnessing his father performing up-right bass in theaters, clubs and upscale lounges. His fathers own linage reads like a "Who's Who" having played the circuit with Nat King Cole, Wayne Newton, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, as well as being a pivotal session musician on many jazz and southern blues jewels.

"I have to admit... At that age... I enjoyed being up past my bedtime... Not to mention, witnessing my father playing bass with his band in a rotating lounge overlooking the nights city skyline."

Having a profound impact on his direction in life John knew unequivocally music was in his blood. At the urging of his father he took up clarinet. After exercising the full scope of the instrument he quickly outgrew the tonal limitations and began being influenced buy the mid-eighty's synthesized sounds of acts like Alan Parsons Project, The Cars, Kraftwerk, Devo & Dépêche Mode and found his roots quickly within the synthesized world of electronic dance music.

Taking his own direction in music John took up playing 12 inch vinyl records and secured residencies at legendary venues such Respectable Street Café in West Palm Beach and soon found himself playing in larger club arenas like famed Visage, Renaissance, Blue Room, Icon and special one off affaires.

Established as an in-demand DJ by 19 John soon was ushered into an elite realm within the electronic community in due to his weekly WPRK 91.5 FM Rollins College radiobroadcast show titled "Citrus Sessions".
