Donna Schmidt

English Literature Major and Journalism Minor, Schmidt's first job was writing for the Enterprise Newspaper in Westchester County, New York. She has always been fascinated by the written word and the smell of newsprint. Both her father and grandfather were printers. She grew up around ink and creativity. After working at the Marriott Marquis in Manhattan as a Tour and Travel Manager, she worked at several ad agencies as an Account Manager using her innate creativity.

She is currently the owner of Donna Schmidt Communications, where she assists small businesses with strategizing to create creative, on-target, professional marketing programs. She is also a freelance feature, print content and marketing writer and has worked on writing short films.

Prior, she was the President/Owner of a small publishing company, and a contributor/blogger to a Gannett Food Blog, “Small Bites”; AOL’s Nyack-Piermont, Pearl River, New City and Nanuet Patch, a community-specific news and information online platform; www.haverstrawlife.com; Rivertown Magazine; NyacknewsandViews and Mother Nature Network. Schmidt has also worked for Scene International advertising for special projects.

In 2012 she was Co-Chair of a local CSA–Cropsey Community Farm in New City, NY and Co-Chaired the Cultural Arts Festival at the JCC of Rockland.

Very involved in her community, Schmidt is currently involved in fundraising for the Rockland Farm Alliance, an organization whose mission is to bring organic food and small farms back to the suburbs. She is also writing features for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Rockland so more people are aware of the awesome work that they accomplish to connect "little" and "big" people.
