In 1986, periodontist Dr. Doug Hammond established his current practice, Douglas G. Hammond, Periodontics & Implant Dentistry, in Huntsville, Alabama. Dr. Doug Hammond's goal is to improve his patients’ health by treating inflammatory periodontal disease, replacing teeth with implants, and improving their smiles with periodontal procedures.

Dr. Hammond received a B.S. in chemistry and physics from Auburn University in 1978, graduating with high honors. In 1982, he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the University of Alabama Dental School and was named Best All-Around Male Student by the Pedodontic Department in his senior year. He completed his residency at the Veteran's Administration hospital in Birmingham before earning his master of science in periodontics at Indiana University Dental School in 1986.

Since completing his formal education and training, Dr. Hammond has continued to remain up-to-date on the latest treatments, procedures, and technologies in his field. He and his staff are all certified in advanced cardiac life support and are examined regularly by the Board of Dental Examiners to ensure their ability to handle medical emergencies.

To keep pace with the recent increase in demand for aesthetic enhancement through implants, Dr. Doug Hammond completed a mini-residency at the Misch International Implant Institute in Detroit, Michigan, and intensive training at the well-known Kois Center in Seattle. This background uniquely qualifies him to both plan for and place dental implants.
