Dr. Richard Wainford serves as an Assistant Professor with the Department of Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics at the Boston University School of Medicine. He previously worked as an instructor and medical researcher for Louisiana State University. As a testament to the quality of his research, Dr. Richard Wainford has received several honors and commendations throughout the course of his career. He won the Dean Franklin Young Investigator Award presented by the American Physiological Society and received a nomination for an Outstanding Accomplishments by a Young Faculty Member Award from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine.

Dr. Richard Wainford began his education at the University of Wales, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology with honors. Following this, he gained acceptance to the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, earning a PhD in Pharmacology. While there, Dr. Wainford earned multiple travel awards from the British Toxicology Society and the International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics. He completed his formal education with a postdoctoral fellowship with the Department of Pharmacology at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.

An active contributor to his field, Dr. Richard Wainford maintains affiliations with a variety of professional organizations. These include the American Heart Association, the American Physiological Society, and the International Society of Hypertension. Furthermore, he serves as a Reviewer for several peer-reviewed publications such as the British Journal of Pharmacology, the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, Current Medicinal Chemistry, Medical Science Monitor, and Cell Biology and Toxicology.
