Dr. Victor Mak

Dr. Victor Mak is an Ontario-based urologist who is one of only a handful of urologists in Canada with formal, post-graduate fellowship training in the subspecialty field of male reproduction, andrology/sexual function and microsurgery of the genito-urinary tract. In 1987, Dr. Mak completed his undergraduate work at the University of Toronto and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Toronto in 1991. Dr. Mak followed the earning of his medical degree with an internship, as well as four years at a post-graduate residency program in the Division of Urology, Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto. From 1995 to 1997, Dr. Mak completed a Masters of Science degree in Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto. In 1998, as mentioned, Dr. Mak completed a yearlong fellowship in male reproduction and microsurgery of the genito-urinary tract at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto.

Dr. Victor Mak currently serves as the Chief of Urology in the Department of Surgery at Mackenzie Health (previously named York Central Hospital) in Richmond Hill, Ontario, a position that he has held since 2007. Dr. Mak also serves as the Chair of the LASER committee at Mackenzie Health, as well as the Chair of Mackenzie Health’s Multi-disciplinary Cancer Conference in Uro-oncology. In addition to his role at Mackenzie Hospital, Dr. Mak serves as a Consultant Urologist for Mon Sheong Long Term Care Facility in Richmond Hill, as well as a Peer Assessor for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, a role which Dr. Mak has held since 2006. Dr. Mak also serves as a Consultant Male Infertility Specialist for various fertility clinics in the Greater Toronto Area.

Dr. Mak holds a number of medical licenses and certifications. Dr. Mak has been a Licentiate of The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario since 1992. Dr. Mak also holds certification from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Urology and from the Federation Licensing Examination (FLEX).

Over the years, Dr. Mak has been honored to be the recipient of a range of awards and grants for his work in urology. In 2010, Dr. Mak was nominated for The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario Council Award. In 1999, Dr. Mak was the recipient of Canadian Urological Association Foundation Scholarship, an award that he chose to decline.
