Dr. Adolphus Sowemimo

Dr. Adolphus Sowemimo laid the foundations for his medical career at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, where he also served as President of the school's medical journal (Dokita). After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Sowemimo began a year-long rotating internship at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, advancing his understanding of medicine,pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, obstetrics, and surgery. He then accepted the position of Community Medical Officer in General Medicine at the Catholic Hospital in Ibadan. In 1986, Dr. Adolphus Sowemimo moved to England to commence his specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology. He accepted an appointment as a Senior House Officer at Tameside General Hospital and City General Hospital, working in the gynecology and obstetrics departments. The next year, he gained employment as a Registrar at St Mary’s Hospital in Newport, Isle of Wight. He fulfilled similar roles at Royal Berkshire Hospital and Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Welwyn Garden City.

In 1991, Dr. Sowemimo traveled to Newfoundland, Canada, taking a role at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital as a Consultant Obstetrician-Gynecologist. While in Canada, he also served as consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at the James Paton Memorial Hospital and Dauphin Regional Health Centre. After working in Scotland as a consultant obstetrician-gynaecologist at the Caithness Hospital in Scotland, Dr. Sowemimo accepted the position of consultant Obstetrician-Gynecologist and general-practitioner at the Mount Carmel Clinic in Winnipeg, offering similar services to Lakewood Medical Centre and Norwood Walk-In & Family Medical Centre. Dr. Adolphus Sowemimo then left Canada to join London Hospital Kuwait, where he acted as Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Director of Clinical Services, Chairman of the Infection Control Committee, and Consultant Obstetrician-Gynecologist.

Later, Dr. Adolphus Sowemimo returned to Canada to begin working with the Celestial Church of Christ as a Medical Missionary, a post that requires him to attend to the medical needs of underprivileged individuals. Dr. Sowemimo maintains membership in the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Manitoba Medical Association, and The College of Family Physicians of Canada.
