Dr. Alan Salem

With over 24 years of experience, Dr. Alan Salem employs his medical expertise in numerous capacities, especially through his charitable work, professional affiliations, and his position as partner at Oceanside Pediatrics. Laying the foundation for his career at the University of Boston School of Medicine, Dr. Salem embarked on a prestigious seven-year combined B.A/M.D. program. He graduated with his M.D. in 1988, and then began his residency at the North Shore Hospital partnered with Cornell University Medical College. Dr. Alan Salem finished his residency in 1991 and became a pediatric group partner at Oceanside Pediatrics, P.C.

Oceanside Pediatrics, a branch of ProHealth Care Associates, is the sole pediatric practice in Oceanside. Therefore, Dr. Salem treats a wide-range of patients from birth through their college years, offering in-hospital newborn care, preventative treatment, immunizations, and nutritional advice. Demonstrating special concern for children's diets, Dr. Salem founded Zone Chef Kids, a program that delivers healthy, affordable meals to the children of New York. Since 2010, Dr. Alan Salem has also provided assistance and clinical training as a preceptor for the Hofstra University Physician Assistant Program.

Dr. Alan Salem holds fellowship to the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Nassau County Pediatric Society. From 2001-2008, he served as chairman to the South Nassau Communities Hospital Pediatric Performance Improvement Committee, in Oceanside, New York. He is also affiliated with the South Nassau Communities Hospital and the Mercy Medical Center.

Outside of professional pursuits, Dr. Alan Salem engages in a variety of charitable activities. As a lover of sports, he has coached CYO basketball, and has sponsored Oceanside Little League. He has also participated in the Lustgarten Foundation's Walk for Pancreatic Cancer. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, writing, fantasy baseball, and anything Disney related.
