Dr. J Michael Calhoun

A board-certified neurosurgeon at the Arkansas Surgical Hospital in North Little Rock, Arkansas, Dr. J. Michael Calhoun specializes in surgery on the peripheral nerves, spinal cord. To address and treat spinal cord disorders, the physician performs procedures on the lumbar and cervical spine and, in particular, lumbar fusion procedures utilizing the MED system. To stay current in his field, Dr. J. Michael Calhoun maintains memberships with such professional groups as the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, among a number of others.

In preparation for his career, Dr. J. Michael Calhoun earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the University of Arkansas and went on to study at the university’s medical school. There, he graduated second in his class with an MD. The doctor subsequently completed a surgery internship and neurosurgery residency at the same school, during which time he garnered status as chief resident.

Dr. J. Michael Calhoun maintains an active presence in his community as a member of North Little Rock and Sherwood Chambers of Commerce. In his free time, he enjoys staying active through such activities as exercise and golf.
