Dr. Kevin Pauza

Dr. Kevin Pauza, a specialist in interventional spine pain management, cofounded Texas Spine and Joint Hospital nearly six years ago. Located in Tyler, Texas, Dr. Kevin Pauza’s physician-owned medical center achieved acclaim as the number one specialty hospital in the state, according to the Annual HealthGrades Hospitals in America study in 2009. Based on patient satisfaction and outcomes and infection rates, Texas Spine and Joint Hospital also ranks fifth in the nation. With more than 16,000 surgeries and other treatments every year, Texas Spine and Joint Hospital features a team, including Dr. Kevin Pauza, who performs more interventional spine procedures per year than any other hospital in the country. A champion of minimally invasive medical treatments, Dr. Kevin Pauza remains active in private practice as a physiatrist, as well as conducting research to investigate nonsurgical treatments for neck and back pain. Currently, Dr. Kevin Pauza and his fellow researchers hold eight patents covering biologic and mechanical treatments for disorders of the spine and spinal discs. The researchers’ techniques involve healing and regeneration of damaged tissues. Licensed to practice in Texas, Dr. Kevin Pauza serves as a Senior Partner of Spine Specialists, P.A. Dr. Pauza holds memberships in the International Spinal Intervention Society, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation. He has served on the advisory boards for the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and the Texas Workers Compensation Commission. Leaders at SpineSmith Stem Cell Corporation and Kimberly-Clark Health Care also asked Dr. Pauza to serve on their advisory boards. He graduated from Lehigh University with Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Psychology. Then, Dr. Pauza earned his M.D. from the Penn State Hershey College of Medicine. He fulfilled a surgical and medical internship at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons and served his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Pennsylvania.
