Dr. Michael Kierl

Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Dr. Michael Kierl serves as an experienced orthodontist. Dr. Michael Kierl opened a successful practice in his hometown in 1989. He also treats patients at two satellite offices in Pauls Valley and El Reno, Oklahoma. In addition to his practice, Dr. Kierl shares his knowledge at two area institutions. The esteemed orthodontist serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. At Rose State College Division of Health Sciences, Dr. Michael Kierl acts as an Adjunct Professor.

Remaining current in technology and other advances in the field, Dr. Michael Kierl offers such options as clear aligners, ceramic braces, and SureSmile. In this procedure, the Oklahoma City orthodontist utilizes advanced imaging technology to scan a patient’s teeth in three dimensions. The computer 3-D model allows Dr. Kierl to determine the ideal positioning of the teeth and the most effective plan to achieve those results. Then, the SureSmile robot bends “a shape-memory alloy archwire” consistent with the orthodontist’s prescription. The wire provides gentle force to move teeth directly into the desired position. SureSmile technology can reduce the time required to wear braces by more than 35%.

Prior to his endeavors as an orthodontist, Dr. Kierl fulfilled his undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a Bachelor of Science. The orthodontist completed a Doctor of Dental Surgery, then a residency and Master of Science in Orthodontics at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. Dedicated to remaining current in his field, Dr. Michael Kierl continually updates his education through scientific lectures, professional meetings, and courses in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.

With active membership in several professional organizations, such as the American Dental Association, the Oklahoma Orthodontic Society, and the American Association of Orthodontists, Dr. Michael Kierl gained Diplomate honors from The American Board of Orthodontics in 1999. Outside of his professional pursuits, he has coached basketball, Little League, and junior-high football for many years. A devoted church member, Dr. Kierl also enjoys following sports and spending time with his family.
