Khurram Pervaiz

Dr. Khurram Pervaiz currently practices at the Orthopaedic Associates of Central Maryland, where he specializes in shoulder, elbow, and hand surgery. A former graduate of King Edward Medical University, he received his Doctor of Medicine in 2002. Upon completion of his degree, he accepted an internship in general surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in New York City. Then, Dr. Khurram Pervaiz performed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he stayed until 2010. While at Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Khurram Pervaiz studied the range of motion effects of triquetral excision and distal scaphoid pole excision on radioscapholunate fusion. This work was nominated for the Best Research Award and presented at the American Society for Surgery of the Hand international meeting. In 2010, Dr. Khurram Pervaiz performed a hand and upper extremity fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. In 2011, Dr. Pervaiz accepted his current practice position at the Orthopaedic Associates of Central Maryland after completing a shoulder and elbow mini fellowship at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa. Dr. Khurram Pervaiz has published extensively on orthopedics and related areas in the Journal of Hand Surgery and the Journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons. Additionally, Dr. Pervaiz’s research has been presented at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers 2011 Summer Bioengineering Conference, the Virginia Commonwealth University Annual Resident's Day, and the Virginia Orthopaedic Society’s 61st annual meeting. Dr. Pervaiz holds a candidate membership with the American Society for Surgery of the Hand as well as a membership with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a former member of the Virginia Orthopaedic Society.
