Rajamannan

Dr. Nalini Rajamannan serves as an Associate Professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. Dr. Rajamannan possesses over a decade of experience as a cardiologist and academic. She also holds extensive postgraduate training. Dr. Rajamannan attended the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in 1985.

She then went on to complete her Doctor of Medicine at Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota. In 1989, Dr. Rajamannan began an internal medicine residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. Subsequently, she undertook a series of cardiology and research fellowships at the Mayo Clinic and through the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Rajamannan completed her postgraduate work in 2000, following a Level III echocardiography fellowship. She holds licensures in both cardiology and internal medicine.

Upon completion of her studies, Dr. Rajamannan enrolled in a six-year tour of duty with the Lakeside Veterans Administration Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, as the Director of the Echocardiography Lab. Concurrently, she was appointed Assistant Professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine Department of Cardiology. Other faculty appointments include a joint position at the Department of Pathology at the Feinberg School of Medicine, which she has held since 2007, and Visiting Scientist in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Mayo Clinic, since 2000. She also serves as the Valve Director at Northwestern University’s Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. In her work for the Department of Cardiology, Dr. Rajamannan sits on numerous committees.

Current duties include Medicine Advisor for third-year medical students and contributions to the school’s cardiology curriculum for both general medical students and cardiology specialists. In the past, Dr. Rajamannan has also participated in the Medical School Library Committee and served as the Co-Chair of the Women’s Faculty Organization Committee. She has also chaired two Northwestern University All Campus Research Days.
