Kenan Dursun, has has more than 10 years of professional experience in the fields of communication, digital tools, civil society development, web-based portals, social media and campaigning. He has a bachelor degree on Mechanical Engineering from Sakarya University, Turkey and has a master degree on Master of Business Administration at Beykent University. He done his second master degree in Media and Communication Systems at Bilgi University. His master studies focus on, how Civil Society Organizations can benefit by using media, technology and data.
Kenan has worked for various CSOs for 14 years. He has been focused on strengthening CSOs by using digital tools. Between 2012 to 2018, he worked at Bilgi University Youth Studies Unit and Center for Civil Society Studies. The Units operates to strengthen the role of NGOs in a plural democracy and to help them function more effectively. Kenan has been organised various activities to strengthen Civil Society and Civil Society Organizations, such as training programs, distance learning programs, various researches, translation of books from different languages into Turkish, and board games for non-formal education. He is the founder and manager of the www.sivilalan.com web portal which aims to spread news and opportunities from civil sector and has 15.000+ hits per months and going to be 50.000+ hits per month at the end of 2018.
He was the communication consultant for the Techsoup program conducted by STGM which aims to increase the use of technology of CSOs by creating a network between CSOs and technology companies. He has worked as a communication expert at Social Media and Minorities Project, Climate Forum for G20 Turkey, Civic Space / Sivil Alan Project and Sivil Düşün projects and campaigns. He also worked at International Medical Corps as Media and Communication officer and Habitat Association as a Entrepreneurship Program officer. He continues to give various trainings and specializations as an expert in Sivil Düşün and STGM. Currently he’s working at Kale Group as Media and Communication Officer and trying to strengthen the civil society experience in the private sector.He’s working for EU Projects as a Communication Adviser. Now he’s working at Kale Group as a Media and Communication Officer and Bilgi University as a Lecturer.
