Nigel Robertson

Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand

I have been working in Higher Education with learning technologies for nearly 20 years. I currently lead the elearning and digital literacy team at Waikato University, NZ. We help improve outcomes for staff and students through developing agility and confidence in using technology and helping understand new pedagogical approaches to take advantage of a world infused with technology.

I have a degree in Physical Geography and a Masters in Multimedia Computing. I'm passionate about the value of education and I think that universities must respond to the challenge of operating in an environment of increased access, accountability, global economic uncertainty, and rapidly evolving technology.

I started caving when I was at school and have spent many years walking in grandeured halls or splashing through rivers underground. Sometimes I might be crawling or cold or slathered in mud, but everytime has been an experience that connects water, rock and the human spirit.

I spend more time on the surface nowadays walking or biking and enjoying New Zealand which has become the new home for me and my family.
