Looking in from the outside, Edward Hill, IV is a typical suburban teenager who loves tennis, sports cars, movies, burger joints, and hanging out with friends. But those who know Edward well, recognize him as an unassuming 17-year-old entrepreneur with a passion for helping kids reach their full potential.
What started off two years ago as Edward and three high school friends holding meetings in his basement, has developed into a multi-layer, 40+ student volunteer, Northern Virginia-based non-profit known as Dream Bigger 4 Kids, Inc. (aka DB4K). DB4K’s mission is to enhance the lives of children with a broad range of social, financial, health, and education needs. Since 2011, DB4K has planned and executed more than 20 charitable activities and events across Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia. Through partnerships, the organization has even extended its geographic reach to impact the lives of kids in international communities including Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe.
As founder and president for DB4K, Edward leverages a diverse array of leadership and organizational skills to motivate high school students to volunteer and get involved in their local communities. He has also formed strategic partnerships with local businesses and banks to collaborate fundraising, donations, and marketing for local charities and hospitals that support the needs of at-risk youth and sick children.
Aside from running a growing non-profit, Edward is an AP Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, a Board member for Inova Mobile Hope, and a past Communications intern for a 2013 Virginia House of Delegates Democratic candidate. He will be attending Syracuse University's Whitman School of Management in the fall of 2014 to study Entrepreneurship & Emerging Enterprises.
