Edward Gomez

I am a professional astronomer and Education Director for Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope Network. The main thrust of my work is to engage with the public through online media to excite and inspire them to follow science investigations. I am part of the ".Astronomy" movement to use new media (e.g. web technology, citizen scientists, online collaboration, podcasting) for research and public engagement in science, and astronomy in particular. I appear regularly as the astronomy expert for BBC Radio Wales' Science Cafe programme.

Since the early days of the World Wide Web, I have had an interest in how the technology has evolved. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty messing about with code.

Music has been important to me during my whole life, particularly in Early and Baroque music. I play the lute as well as singing with an Early Music ensemble.

I regularly blog about all of this at http://darkmattersheep.net
