Edward Lim

A member of the Board of Directors of the Western Wood Truss Association of British Columbia and the Canadian Wood Truss Association, Professional Engineer (P.Eng) Ed Lim serves as President and CEO Chief Executive Officer of United Building Systems International Corp. The company, located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, resulted from the amalgamation of three firms: Cloverdale Truss Co. Ltd., Lougheed Truss Ltd., and Permatruss Fabricators Ltd. United Building Systems engineers and creates prefabricated wood systems for the commercial and multifamily construction sectors. Ed Lim, P.Eng., a Timber Design Specialist, oversees the firm’s engineering, design, and construction operations. Through his affiliation with a various North American Structural Engineers Associations, Ed Lim, P.Eng. joined a group of architects and engineers on a unique journey. The group embarked on a tour, organized by the Structural Engineers Association of Hawaii, of landmark Chinese structures in Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai. Participants witnessed the old and new China from an architectural and engineering perspective. Ed Lim, P.Eng. visited The Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, and toured the Iconic buildings with the designers and engineers from the Olympic venues including the “Bird’s Nest” and “Water Cube.” Ed Lim, P.Eng. graduated from British Columbia Institute of Technology, where he studied civil and structural technology. And then went on to the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science. Presently, Ed Lim, P.Eng. works is working on a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Using his education and experience, he has assisted on several projects and publications for the Canadian Wood Council, including the Design and Costing Workbook Series and the Engineering Guide for Wood -Frame Construction. A supporter of Vancouver Chinese Pentecostal Church and Summit Pacific College in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Ed Lim, P.Eng. also serves on the Provincial Steering Committee of the Canadian Wood Council. In addition to the enjoyment he derives from driving an 18-speed Kenworth 18-wheeler and operating a 20-ton, 95-foot stiff boom crane at construction sites, Ed Lim, P.Eng. relishes spending time with his family.
