I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at Columbia University. My research interests include the social production of health, ethnic and socioeconomic health inequalities, and complex systems approaches in social epidemiology.
I am also a Fellow at Dēmos, a progressive policy think tank, where my commentary engages the public debate regarding Public Health; the US health system; racial, ethnic and socioeconomic inequalities; and Islam in the West. Check out my latest writing at the 2x2 project - an online media venue dedicated to translating public health science to the public audience where I am an Associate Editor.
