Evelyn Corbitt

Hello! My name is Evelyn Corbitt and I recently joined the ranks of the unemployed after 38 years with the same company. I hired in as a software engineer and left as a systems engineer. Fortunately, early retirement is an option, and I can now explore other areas of interest to me.

This newfound freedom came as a blessing in disguise, as it allowed me the time to deal with the unexpected passing of my younger brother, who had early onset Alzheimer's (my parents and only other sibling, an older brother, had already moved on).

And now, I no longer need to be concerned about limited time off to support a cross country road trip to visit east coast relatives. I was iniitally planning to drive my 2009 Honda GX (a natural gas vehicle) to see if it was doable (finding CNG stations stations along the way is the primary challenge), but this trip has taken on a life of its own and it all started with a post at cngchat.com.

The natural gas community has been exceptionally supportive and now there's a website dedicated to this trip at GreenAcrossAmerica.com. If all goes well, the credit will go to Curtis Martin, the Clean Cities Coalitions and sponsors listed at GreenAcrossAmerica, CNGprices.com and afdc.energy.gov. Special thanks goes to cngchat member, Bill Stallman (aka "300mileclub"), who's been tracking new station openings and brought up the possibility of a cross country CNG trip. See links below.
