"We are all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?" - Doctor Who

Elizabeth is currently a Special Education Teacher and Coordinator for a Charter School servicing students in PreK-3 through 5th grade living in Houston, TX. She enjoys working with students who have a wide range of leaning, mental, emotional and/or physical needs. She teaches various subjects such as reading, math, and writing skills to students with mild to moderate disabilities.

Elizabeth's ultimate educational goal is to obtain a Doctoral Degree in Education. With this degree, she hopes to conduct research into the neurological science of how the student brain learns in order to develop curriculum/instructional methods for students with learning disabilities. Her ideal curriculum will not only assist those students with learning difficulties currently in the classroom but will also have an extended program to assist adults who may not have received adequate instructional assistance while in school.

From Elizabeth:

"Most people are not aware of my disability. Dyslexia does not show like most physical disabilities and mental or psychological impairments. Battling against the fatigue of taking ten mental leaps where most "normal" people only need one small mental step, every day of school and homework is exhausting. I struggle in organizing my time, possessions, and thoughts. With years of educational intervention and more years of parental inspiration, in December of 2011 I graduated with honors from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Special Education - Teaching. As I look to the future, I think of those special teachers who once taught me and the difference they made in my life. Can I do even more? Yes. Through the experiences in my life, I have honed my skills at empowering those with disabilities as well as teaching skills. By inspiring a pupil's best effort while nurturing the spirit, I expect to make a difference in the lives of youth with learning differences. Having the opportunity to experience the "special" in special education with extraordinary instructors, I can share the joy of success with my students. I am mindful that each student has a different measure of success for we all do not start at the same mark but can find success in our own lives."
