Emily Hsiao

Tokyo, Japan

Emily graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania's Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business, earning a BA College of Arts and Sciences and a BS from the Wharton School of Business.

Growing up, Emily traveled to Japan and Taiwan every summer, attending public school to gain fluency in Japanese and Mandarin. During college, she studied abroad at Peking University, studying international relations alongside local students. She also completed an advanced intensive Spanish language program in Salamanca, Spain and is studying intensive Italian and classical vocal performance in Arezzo, Italy this summer.

Emily has had the fortune of applying her international experience in both the private and public sectors. Her experience includes working at Bain and Company in Tokyo, Goodyear Rubber and Tire, Co. in Shanghai and Tokyo, Shokay International in Shanghai, and Foreign Policy Research Institute of Philadelphia.

With her keen interest in social entrepreneurship and international development, Emily was a Lipman Family Prize Fellow in the Wharton Leadership Program, evaluating nonprofits for a monetary prize and ultimately visiting and writing a case study about READ Global.

In her free time, Emily loves hanging out with her family, belting out Broadway favorites, and playing the violin.
