I am an assistant professor in the Department of Engineering Science & Physics at the College of Staten Island (City University of New York), faculty in Physics at the CUNY Graduate Center, member of CUNY Astro, and resident research associate in the Department of Astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History. I study low mass stars, brown dwarfs, and exoplanets by examining their spectra and comparing them to models.

At AMNH I am also involved in public outreach. I give public lectures using the Digital Universe Atlas at the Hayden Planetarium as part of the Astronomy Live series. As astrophysics content adviser for Science Bulletins I worked with a talented team of writers, graphic designers, and directors to create topical science videos. I have also created content for AMNH's newest iPhone app, Cosmic Discoveries.

I earned a Ph.D. in Astrophysics at UCLA and undergraduate degress in Physics & Astronomy and German at the University of Pittsburgh.
