Emma Mayerson

Emma Mayerson comes from a family of philanthropists and activists. Her grandfather was a devoted philanthropist in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her father teaches poetry to at-risk youth through The Beat Within, and her mother works at DREDF (disability rights education and defense fund) as a civil rights lawyer for people with disabilities. Emma Mayerson credits a home life based on community service and tikkun olam for her ongoing commitment to activism, service, and nurturing relationships among diverse communities. Inspired by her grandfather, Emma Mayerson also has a special appreciation for the guiding role that community elders can have in the lives of younger people.
