Enrique Gongora

A seasoned surgeon with years of academic and clinical experience, Dr. Enrique Gongora began his medical training at the Universidad del Rosario in Bogota, Colombia, where he received the degree of doctor of medicine and surgery. He then continued his training with a residency in general surgery and a surgical critical care fellowship at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Later, Dr. Enrique Gongora completed formal training in cardiothoracic surgery at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Where he was named administrative chief resident. He then completed subspecialty training in adult cardiac surgery and thoracic transplantation/mechanical support at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Dr. Enrique Gongora currently has been recently named director of adult heart transplantation and mechanical support at Memorial Health System, an organization based in Hollywood, Florida. He previously worked as the surgical director for heart transplantation and ventricular assist devices at Hahnemann University Hospital/Drexel University College of Medicine and as director of thoracic transplantation and mechanical circulatory support at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine/Scott & White Clinic.
